NANOMICRO: Science, Technology, Systems

We are Germany's largest research programme in nano and micro technologies. NANOMICRO is a Helmholtz Research Programme and dedicated towards research and development of

  • quantum size effects and molecular building blocks
  • new and novel functional materials beyond IC-materials
  • reliable processing and characterisation technologies
  • new optical and photonic systems
  • energy storage systems

Our activities span the entire range from fundamental science to high performance technologies and integrated systems. We operate the Karlsruhe Nano Micro Facility (KNMF, www.knmf.de) as a large-scale user facility for multimaterial nano and micro technologies.

NANOMICRO is associated with KIT (www.kit.edu), an unique institution of top research and excellent academic education as well as a prominent location of academic life, life-long learning, comprehensive advanced training, unrestricted exchange of know-how, and sustainable innovation culture.

The NANOMICRO programme is located in the North of Karlsruhe, Southern Germany, at "Campus North" of KIT, formerly known as Karlsruhe Research Centre (FZK).

EUMINAfab - Gateway to European Micro and Nano Fabrication

EUMINAfab is a new European Research Infrastructure for emerging multimaterial micro and nano fabrication and characterisation technologies. A portfolio of 36 installations in the areas of micro and nano patterning, thin film deposition, replication and characterisation is available to external users from industry and academia. With this integrating activity, funded by the FP7 Capacities programme, the European Commission supports the establishment of a unique technology platform operated by a consortium of 10 partners. The access costs, alongside networking and joint research activities, are covered within the budget of the project. The first calls for proposals will be launched at COMS2009 and no fee access will be possible by written proposal submission through the EUMINAfab Entry Point www.euminafab.eu.
