Dr. Egholm led the development of the - by far - most powerful (and picolitre-scale based) DNA sequencing technique (Nature, 2005) that changed the industry overnight and is the basis for a rapidly growing business with revenue >>$100M for 2008. He has co-authored 10 papers in Science or Nature since 2005 including sequencing of the first individual genome "Nobel laureate James Watson".

 

Dr. Egholm is co-inventor of PNA (Science, 1991) - Peptide Nucleic Acids - licensed to numerous companies and referred to in more than 2,000 scientific articles and more than 15,000 US patents.

 

Michael Egholm is a member of the Royal Danish Academy of Science and Letters.
