Upon qualifying as a Physicist from Imperial College, London Sean Neylon started his professional career at GEC Hirst Research Laboratories, London, United Kingdom, as a design engineer and later on with GEC Marconi where he was involved in the design, development, manufacturing and technology transfer of multiple technologies ranging from SAW filters to III-V and Silicon based RF integrated circuits. In the early 1990s, he was responsible for diversifying the business from traditional Space & Defence markets and into new emerging markets such as mobile telecommunications and new automotive applications, successfully supplying innovative RF electronic subsystems to first tier manufacturers such as Ericsson, Nokia, BMW and Volvo.
In January 1999, he joined CSEM as Executive Vice-President responsible for the Microsystems Manufacturing division with the specific mission of preparing the R&D activity for a spin-off. He has been the CEO of Colibrys since its creation on January 1st 2001.
He started his life in Switzerland in 1997 as Assistant Chief Executive Officer in Micronas SA, Switzerland, assisting in the restructuring of their Microelectronics operations following the acquisition of ITT Intermetal GmbH.
Sean Neylon was born in Nairobi, Kenya and has since then spent most of his life travelling spending extensive periods in Asia, Europe and the US.
He has been active in the Board of the Nexus Association since 2001 and it's Chairman since 2005 supporting Microsystems road mapping activities for the EC and promoting in particular the inclusion of SMEs and inclusion of New Member States.
