Prof.dr. H.W.M. (Huub) Salemink is a fulltime professor in semiconductor nanophotonics, leading the section Photronic Devices at the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience, Delft Technical University. Prior to his appointment at TU Delft, he was fulltime professor at TUE (2001-2004) and part-time professor at TU Delft via the Physica foundation (1997-2002). Before returning to the Netherlands, he has been research staff member at IBM's Zurich Research laboratory, Ruschlikon, Switzerland (1985-2001) where he pioneered cross-sectional scanning tunnel microscopy and novel silicon-based photonic materials.

Before departure to Zurich, he was employee in the semiconductor laser department at Philips Research (NatLab) (1979-1982) and initiated laser remote sensing for atmospheric research at RIVM (1982-1985). His thesis and study in experimental solid state physics was at Radboud University, Nijmegen. He has published ~ 135 reviewed research papers and (co-)authored 10 IBM worldwide patents. At TUDelft he has been chairman of the nanoscience department from oct 2004-april 2008. Currently he is vice chairman of the Nanotechnology consortium NanoNed in the Netherlands and scientific director of the centre of competence at the 3TU federation for Nanotechnology Applications.
